Job Description

Job Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst with a focus on Customs Compliance within the logistics sector. This role will be integral to ensuring that our logistics systems, processes, and operations align with global customs regulations and standards. The successful candidate will work closely with the development and testing teams, ensuring that the systems and processes are fully compliant with customs requirements while managing multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities :
Create Specifications for Customs Compliance :
  • Gather and analyze business requirements with a strong focus on customs and import/export regulations and requirements.
  • Develop clear and detailed functional and technical specifications for logistics systems, ensuring that all relevant customs compliance regulations are integrated into the solution.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that specifications meet global and local customs requirements, import/export laws, and compliance standards.
Aligning with Development Team and Testing for Customs Compliance :
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure that customs compliance requirements are correctly understood and implemented in logistics systems.
  • Act as a liaison between business, legal, and IT teams to ensure that customs compliance needs are addressed throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Facilitate and support testing activities, ensuring that the systems meet customs regulations and operational compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that system testing includes critical customs-related scenarios to verify compliance with all relevant regulations.
Managing Multiple Customs Compliance Projects :
  • Oversee and manage multiple logistics projects that require customs compliance, ensuring that deadlines, compliance standards, and quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as operations, legal, IT, and compliance, to integrate customs regulations into the project workflow.
  • Maintain oversight of the project timelines to ensure that compliance requirements are incorporated on schedule.
Customs Compliance Risk Management :
  • Identify potential customs compliance risks in logistics systems, processes, and operations, and work to mitigate these risks.
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations across global markets and ensure that internal processes and systems are updated accordingly.
  • Support the organization in ensuring compliance with trade laws, import/export restrictions, customs declarations, tariffs, and duties.
Continuous Improvement in Customs Compliance :
  • Regularly review and recommend improvements to customs compliance processes to increase efficiency, minimize risk, and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement improvements based on lessons learned from customs audits, regulatory updates, or process feedback.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in global customs regulations, trade compliance policies, and best practices in logistics.
Stakeholder and Regulatory Engagement :
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, customs brokers, and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with relevant import/export laws and regulations.
  • Communicate changes to customs regulations to stakeholders and ensure that these changes are reflected in system updates and process improvements.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to teams responsible for customs declarations and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications :
  • Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, with specific experience in customs compliance within logistics and supply chain management.
  • Deep understanding of global customs regulations, tariffs, import/export documentation, and trade compliance policies.
  • Familiarity with customs clearance processes, customs duty, and trade compliance software.
  • Experience in creating detailed functional specifications with a focus on compliance with customs regulations.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, especially in the context of complex international logistics and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles related to customs compliance.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus.

Desirable Skills :
  • Certification in customs compliance, trade compliance, or international trade (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker, CCLP, or similar certifications).
  • Experience working with customs compliance software or systems (e.g., customs declaration software, Trade Management Systems).
  • Familiarity with specific regional customs regulations (e.g., EU, US, Asia-Pacific).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly related to regulatory challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
