Manager, Software Engineer @ Merck Sharp

Job Description

• Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor moderately complex applications and software configurations for deployment in collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams across various regions worldwide.
• Design test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting test outcomes.
• Elicit requirements for systems and software life cycle working practices and automation.
• Create and maintain visualization models
• Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the Product manager.
• Participate in Product planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and Product goals.

• Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry, with demonstrated hands-on experience working with technologies - SQL, Mongo DB and NoSQL Databases, at least one programming language from our supported stack (Pyspark/ Node / React, Java, Python)
• Hands-on experience with AWS services like S3, Athena and other AWS data services
• Good understanding and comprehension of the requirements provided by Data Product Owner
• Experience creating / adopting data models to meet requirements from ITLT and other stakeholders leveraging data visualization technologies (e.g, PowerBI, AWS QuickSight)
• Familiarity with modern product development practices - Agile, Scrum, test driven development, design thinking.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices (Git, continuous integration/continuous deployment - CI/CD).
• Possesses both theoretical and practical knowledge, with the ability to autonomously implement given tasks, including producing and deploying pieces of code.
• Experience with AWS services
• Product and customer-centric approach.
