Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Test Engineer with a strong background in SQL and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and performance of our database systems and related applications through comprehensive testing strategies and execution.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts for database systems, including data validation, data integrity, and ETL processes.
Utilize advanced SQL queries to perform data verification, identify data inconsistencies, and validate complex business logic implemented within the database.
Perform various types of database testing, including functional, regression, performance, load, and security testing.
Analyze system requirements and technical specifications to create effective test strategies and test cases.
Collaborate closely with developers, database administrators, and business analysts to understand database structures, data flow, and application dependencies.
Identify, document, and track database defects and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
Develop and maintain test data sets for various testing phases.
Monitor database performance during testing and identify areas for optimization.
Contribute to the improvement of database testing processes, tools, and best practices.
Participate in database design and architecture reviews to ensure testability and quality.
Potentially contribute to the development and maintenance of automated database testing frameworks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) and relevant tools.
Provide clear and concise test reports and status updates to project stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in database testing or a similar Quality Assurance role with a strong focus on databases.
Proven expertise in writing and executing complex SQL queries for data validation and analysis.
Solid understanding of database concepts, including relational databases, schemas, tables, stored procedures, and functions.
Experience with various database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) is highly desirable.
Familiarity with database testing tools and methodologies.
Experience with defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an Agile or fast-paced environment.
