Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy integration interfaces using HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, X12, and other healthcare standards.
• Implement data exchange workflows between EHR/EMR systems (Epic, Meditech, Cerner, Athena) and third-party applications.
• Configure and maintain interface engines like Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or Corepoint.
• Work with Epic tools such as Bridges, Interconnect, App Orchard, and Clarity as needed.
• Analyze, map, and transform data formats (e.g., CCD, C-CDA, JSON, XML).
• Troubleshoot integration issues across systems and environments.
• Collaborate with product managers, clients, and QA teams to support deployment, testing, and validation.
• Maintain documentation for interfaces, mapping logic, and configuration.
• Stay updated on evolving interoperability standards including USCDI, TEFCA, and SMART on FHIR.

Required Qualifications

• 36 years of experience in healthcare integration, ideally within a consulting or health IT environment.
• Hands-on experience with Epic (Bridges, HL7, or FHIR integration) and/or Meditech integration (NPR, Data Repository, or Expanse).
• Deep knowledge of HL7 (ORM, ADT, SIU, ORU), CCD, CDA, and FHIR resources.
• Proficient in interface engine configuration (Mirth, Corepoint, Rhapsody).
• Strong understanding of HIPAA, PHI, and secure data exchange practices.
• Experience writing transformation scripts (JavaScript, Python, or XSLT preferred).
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic certification in Bridges, Interconnect, or related modules.
• Familiarity with payer-side integrations (e.g., X12 837/835, eligibility checks).
• Exposure to SMART on FHIR apps, OAuth2-based authentication, or Epic App Orchard.
• Previous experience working with US healthcare organizations or HIEs.
