Job Description

1. Patient Care

  • Monitor Vital Signs: Regularly check and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Administer Medication: Provide prescribed medications and monitor for side effects or reactions.
  • Wound Care: Clean, dress, and monitor surgical wounds or injuries.
  • Assist with Daily Activities: Help patients with bathing, eating, mobility, and toileting when needed.
  • Maintain Hygiene and Comfort: Ensure patients are clean, comfortable, and positioned properly.

2. Clinical Support

  • Prepare Patients for Procedures: Help in setting up for surgeries, diagnostic tests, or examinations.
  • Assist Doctors: Support physicians during rounds or procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring patient readiness.
  • Collect Samples: Take blood, urine, stool, or other samples for laboratory testing.

3. Documentation and Reporting

  • Update Medical Records: Document care, treatments, observations, and changes in a patients condition accurately.
  • Report Critical Information: Communicate important developments to doctors or shift supervisors promptly.

4. Patient and Family Education

  • Explain Treatments and Medications: Ensure patients and their families understand care plans and medications.
  • Discharge Instructions: Provide guidance on home care, follow-up visits, and medication regimens post-discharge.

5. Emergency Response

  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in case of a medical emergency (e.g., cardiac arrest, falls).
  • Initiate Life-Saving Measures: Perform CPR or first aid when necessary.

6. Infection Control

  • Follow Safety Protocols: Adhere to hospital hygiene and infection control policies.
  • Educate Patients: Teach about hygiene practices to prevent infections.

7. Collaboration and Coordination

  • Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Work closely with doctors, therapists, pharmacists, and other staff to ensure holistic care.
  • Shift Handover: Provide clear and concise reports to incoming nurses.

8. Emotional and Psychological Support

  • Provide Compassionate Care: Offer emotional support to patients and families dealing with illness or trauma.
  • Create a Healing Environment: Foster a calm, respectful, and healing atmosphere. Role & responsibilities
