Job Description
As a Windows SME , you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization s Windows-based infrastructure. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that Windows servers, systems, and applications are highly available, secure, and efficiently running. You will also act as the go-to expert for complex technical issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive automation, performance improvements, and best practices within the Windows ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities : - Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of infrastructure.
- Perform routine system updates, patch management, and software upgrades.
- Serve as the escalation point for resolving complex Windows-related technical issues.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot performance, security, and connectivity issues across Windows platforms.
- Provide root cause analysis for incidents and implement long-term solutions.
- Implement and maintain security best practices for Windows infrastructure.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Manage access control policies and ensure data protection standards.
- Develop automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline tasks like system administration, backups, monitoring, and patching.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through automation and workflow enhancements.
- Manage backup and restore processes for Windows servers, ensuring that systems can recover efficiently in case of failure.
- Participate in the design, testing, and execution of disaster recovery plans for critical Windows systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to design and deploy infrastructure solutions that meet business needs.
- Provide expert-level support to internal teams and external stakeholders as needed.
- Serve as a mentor to junior staff and conduct training sessions on Windows best practices and new technologies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Generate reports on system health, performance, and compliance for key stakeholders.
- Lead or assist in Windows infrastructure-related projects such as server migrations, upgrades, and new feature deployments.
- Ensure that projects are delivered on time and align with the organization s objectives.
- Experience : 12+ years of experience in Windows system administration and support, with a deep understanding of Windows server architecture.
- Education : Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications : Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator (or similar) is highly preferred.
