Job Description
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring belonging awareness. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
The Customer Accounts Membership team drives Walmart Ecommerce and has two main objectives :
- Enable Unified Access: Provide users with a seamless, secure, and unified access to Walmart across all touchpoints.
- Develop Membership Services: Create an outstanding membership/subscription service, aiming to become the preferred choice for customers.
The Accounts team at IDC Bangalore addresses customer, associate, and business needs. This team is part of Walmart International which operates across markets outside US .
What will you Do
Principal Software Engineer role is a hands-on role that support architectural designs and advisory for retail domain areas owned by teams in IDC. This is a highly technical role where the right candidate can go deep into specific application and services, and work on higher-level multi-domain system designs.
Direct support and engagement with engineering teams will improve designs, reduce complexity, and contribute to adoption of better practices and strengthened expertise . Contributions towards larger systemic decoupling, and better shared standards will help elevate the entire engineering org and improve the overall quality, stability, and availability of our production systems. Direct team engagement across many domains will increase networking which further elevates the overall org. This role has a huge impact to the business as the new designed platform will power the growth of the market to the multi-billion dollar.
- Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering requested information, writing, and developing code, conducting unit testing. Communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders.
- Collaborating with project team and cross functional teams. Troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes, ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs. Interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan.
- Models compliance with company policies, procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans.
- Creates training documentation. Oversees the tasks of less experienced programmers and stipulates system troubleshooting supports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop scalable, high-performance software solutions.
- Take ownership of full-stack development, including front-end and back-end components.
- Utilize your expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices to create robust and efficient applications.
- Design and optimize databases using SQL and No SQL technologies for data storage and retrieval.
- Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka and ensure seamless integration with other systems.
- Work with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure to build scalable and secure applications.
- Collaborate with the team to perform code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure high-quality code delivery.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
What you'll Bring ...
- At least 12+ years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems.
- A good understanding of Java and Microservices.
- Hands on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Cloud (Azure/GCP), Kafka (or other messaging service), Memcached/Redis or any caching technologies, relational DBMS ( My SQL , Oracle etc. ) Typescript/Java Script,React, Redux, Node JS, HTML, CSS
- Should be hands on writing/reviewing design code.
- Understand the product and project management space with Agile methodologies.
- CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of least one cloud-based project - Experience in building extensible platforms, data pipelines are desirable.
- Experience in internalization is a plus.
- Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly. Proficient in new and emerging technologies.
- Ability to balance the long-term big picture and short-term implications of design decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.
- Mentoring/coaching Senior staff engineers and other Engineers.
- Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns and configurations tools for faster development.
- Practitioner of Agile (Scrum) methodology
Minimum Qualifications...
Minimum Qualifications:Option 1: Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and5 years experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications...
Master s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years experience in software engineering or related area.
