What will you do at Ciena

A software designer is required to aid in the development of a Standalone/ Server- based/ Web based/ Cloud based, network design and engineering application for

Real Time Network Planning. This application is developed for Ciena s leading edge

Blue PlanetTM platform. The application will assist customers in the design and development of SONET/ SDH, OTN Optical DWDM networks featuring Ciena s market leading and pioneering optical products and technologies.

This application is used to design and deploy Ciena s Transport, Switching and Packet hardware for Long haul, Regional and Metro networks.

The successful candidate will be expected follow a disciplined approach to software development to ensure that the application is delivered with high quality, to the required specifications, and by the required delivery date.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of engineers and software designers and will gain firsthand experience developing software

Responsibilities

bull;Analysis, software design and implementation to validate and optimize DWDM, SONET/ SDH, OTN based networks, which are designed based on a variety of parameters

bull;Apply design principles to work in a client server, desktop based or microservice- based development environment and keeping in mind performance and memory constraints.

bull;Work collaboratively with Product Owner, Product Line Manager (PLM) and Verification.

bull;Complete assigned development tasks including unit testing and documenting work

bull;Translate functional requirements into development tasks and provide project manager accurate time estimates for completion

bull;Troubleshooting and debugging of reported issues

bull;Keep yourself abreast with latest technology trends

General Activities

bull;Feature analysis and discussion with product owners to understand and frame the detailed requirements with design estimates.

bull;Work in Agile Scrum and create/ update Jira s with detailed description, DoD acceptance criteria.

bull;Design and Implementation

bull;Unit testing integration testing.

bull;Work with product verification team in resolving feature defects.

Experience

Candidate should have 7 years of experience in following:

bull;End- to- end software development (requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and support) - Critical

bull;React.js, HTML 5, CSS, SASS / SCSS Critical

bull;ES6 / ES7 Advanced Javascript, Object Oriented Javascript - Critical

bull;Knowledge of Unit Testing Frameworks like Mocha, Chai, Karma, Jasmine Critical

bull;Knowledge of Git - Critical

bull;E2E Tools E.g. Protractor- Desirable

bull;Knowledge of Build Tools Webpack, babel, make Desirable

bull;Experience with Third party JS libraries Google Maps, D3 - Desirable

bull;Knowledge of Web Sockets, Authentication, Web Security
