Job Description


Cloudera is looking for an exceptional passionate software engineer with strong distributed systems expertise to join our Advance Resolution Engineering (ARE) team in Backline Support. This team is part of the Cloudera Support organization delivering best-in-class technical support to our elite global customers. The team consists of top-notch engineers, open-source contributors and committers with subject matter experts in various Cloudera product components to provide expert-level diagnostic analysis and deliver solutions to complex problems that warrant code level debugging. The team partners with Engineering teams on diagnosing/implementing solutions and with product management to constantly improve the quality and supportability of our products. The team constantly looks for ways to improve the efficiency of global support teams with innovative ideas, diagnostic methodologies, and tools.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience working with the internals of the various components of the Hadoop ecosystem and deep understanding of the variety of big data use cases at the world s largest deployments of Hadoop such as Cloudera Data Platform, provides a one-stop for all analytics workloads in unified data architecture, offering the possibility of deployment on hybrid and multi-cloud environments, which is the type of environment that large companies in the world are moving towards. This opens up a chance to contribute to Apache projects with the opportunity to become a committer.

  • Requirements:

  • Up to 7+ years of experience in the development with a strong understanding of scaling and performance of the application.

  • Hands-on experience in Java with strong data-structures and algorithms skills.

  • Strong experience in JVM internals, performance measurement, and monitoring tools

  • Working experience in Hadoop, SQL, NoSQL database experience.

  • Good understanding of Linux Operating System, Networking and environmental issues.

  • Familiarity with GIT, Maven tools

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • B.E/B.Tech or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Big pluses:

  • Working experience in Hadoop distributions such as CDH, HDP, etc

  • Big Data / NoSQL / distributed database experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity with other programming languages such as python, scala, etc;

  • Experience with containerization technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Recognized contributions to open source project
