Design and Development:
- Conceptualize, design, and detail packaging solutions for a variety of automotive parts, including trolleys, stillages, VF trays, corrugated boxes, and internal partitions.
- Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models and 2D technical drawings of packaging designs, ensuring accuracy and feasibility for manufacturing.
- Develop and maintain packaging specifications, including material specifications, dimensions, assembly instructions, and quality standards.
- Consider factors such as part geometry, weight, fragility, environmental conditions, and transportation methods in the design process.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Material Selection and Cost Optimization:
- Research and evaluate different packaging materials (e.g., steel, plastics, corrugated board) based on performance requirements, cost, and sustainability considerations.
- Conduct cost analysis of proposed packaging designs and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or part protection.
- Work with suppliers to obtain material quotes and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and quality departments, to understand packaging requirements and constraints.
- Communicate design concepts and technical details clearly and concisely through drawings, presentations, and discussions.
- Work with packaging vendors and suppliers to ensure the manufacturability and quality of designed packaging.
Documentation and Analysis:
- Maintain organized records of all packaging designs, specifications, and related documentation.
- Utilize Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs) and Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
- Analyze packaging failures or damages and propose design modifications to prevent recurrence.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in packaging design and materials.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in the packaging design and development workflow.
Preferred Skills:
- Proven experience (1-3 years) in designing packaging solutions, specifically for automotive parts.
- Hands-on proficiency in using SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles relevant to packaging design (e.g., structural integrity, material properties).
- Strong skills in using Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs) or Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data analysis, presentations, and documentation.
- Experience in calculating the loop quantity of returnable packaging (advantage).
- Familiarity with different manufacturing processes for packaging materials (e.g., welding, molding, die-cutting).
- Knowledge of cost estimation principles for packaging (advantage).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
