Actuarial Intern @ Swatantra Technologies

Job Description

As an Actuarial Intern at InRisk Labs, you will support the development of AI-powered parametric insurance products aimed at mitigating disaster and climate risks. You will work closely with domain experts, data scientists, and product teams to assist in historical loss modelling, pricing logic development, and back-testing analysis for perils like flood, cyclone, and earthquake.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in structuring pricing models for parametric insurance using time series and historical data
• Support configuration of actuarial assumptions (TLR, event frequencies, trend adjustments, El Nio/La Nia loadings)
• Help in backtesting historical triggers against event databases and claim data
• Contribute to calibration of payout curves and trigger thresholds
• Document assumptions, methodologies, and pricing memos for regulatory and underwriting reviews
• Participate in client discussions with product experts on insurance modelling
  

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong statistical and mathematical modelling skills
• Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Python or R for actuarial computation is a plus
• Ability to interpret and handle large weather and event datasets
• Clarity on basic insurance terms: deductible, trigger, limit, payout, frequency vs severity

Good-to-Have:

• Exposure to catastrophe modelling or GIS-based datasets
• Interest in climate risk, parametric products, or microinsurance
