Major Responsibilities:
Process Design & Development
Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for manufacturing.
Scale up laboratory processes to industrial production.
Select and specify equipment such as reactors, heat exchangers, and separators.
2. Process Simulation & Modeling
Use software like Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD, or MATLAB to simulate and improve processes.
Analyze thermodynamic and kinetic data to predict system behavior.
3. Plant Operations & Troubleshooting
Monitor and control plant operations to ensure efficiency and safety.
Identify and resolve process inefficiencies and equipment malfunctions.
Assist in the commissioning and startup of new plants or processes.
4. Safety & Environmental Compliance
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Conduct risk assessments and develop hazard mitigation strategies (e.g., HAZOP studies).
Promote sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
5. Quality Control & Assurance
Oversee product quality and process consistency.
Implement and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Analyze samples and adjust processes to meet quality standards.
6. Research & Development
Innovate new materials, chemicals, or processes.
Conduct experiments to improve product performance or reduce costs.
Collaborate with R&D teams on product formulation and testing.
7. Project Management
Plan and manage engineering projects from concept to completion.
Estimate costs, prepare budgets, and manage timelines.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers.
8. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed records of process data, test results, and project progress.
Prepare technical reports, manuals, and safety documentation.
Present findings to management or stakeholders.
