Job Description

What Youll Do

This position will be responsible for creation of visual designs as they relate to Avalara s demand generation campaigns and brand-related design. Together with leaders of our Marketing Content Team, our Video team, and our Corporate Events Team, this person will be a key member of the Brand Marketing Team. Their charge will be to bring Avalara marketing efforts to life in a way that is fresh, on brand, and effective. This role works closely with the creative director in the creation of design campaigns across various channels while collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior designers, to deliver innovative and impactful creative solutions that align with our brand vision and business goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong graphic design portfolio showcasing expertise in visual storytelling, branding, and design across digital and print mediums in everything from long-format white papers and guides to social and digital display ads, PDFs, and infographics.


What Your Responsibilities Will Be

Overview and Responsibilities:

Conceptualize, design, and oversee the production of high-quality visual assets, including branding materials, marketing collateral, digital campaigns, social media graphics, and presentations.

Collaborate with campaign management, and content teams to translate complex ideas into compelling visual designs
Drive quality and consistency across all visual design
Take art and creative direction to improve on the final deliverables
Leverage tools/programs in Adobe CS to ensure all designs meet accessibility standards and are optimized for various platforms and audiences.
Provide guidance and technical design support to more junior designers
Have an understanding of Avalara products, marketing initiatives, and strategic positioning
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
Present design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback to refine and finalize projects

Maintain consistency and accuracy of our brand guidelines

Work with project manager and campaign manager in adherence to project scope and deadlines


What Youll Need to be Successful

Qualifications:

Ideal candidate has 8+ years in professional graphic design experience with at least 2+ years in a lead role at a traditional or in-house agency

Demonstrate clear understanding of visual design principles
Technical expertise within the Adobe Creative suite of tools (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PPT, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.)

Experience in PPT / presentation design
Strong portfolio demonstrating versatility in typography, layout, color theory, and branding.
Experience with motion graphics

Experience in B2B visual communication
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work well independently and collaborate effectively with a team
Ability to prioritize projects, work effectively with stakeholders, and complete tasks by meeting timelines and goals
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
