This role is critical to a high-impact client engagement where the developer will be responsible for designing and implementing a custom code scanner that identifies and reports i18n issues across large-scale codebases.Key responsibilitiesSenior Python Developer
- Design, develop, and maintain a Python-based static code analysis tool to scan and detect internationalization issues (e.g., hardcoded strings, locale mishandling, date/number formatting).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define i18n quality rules, standards, and issue categories.
- Integrate scanning logic with CI/CD pipelines and/or development workflows.
- Analyze existing codebases and generate detailed reports on i18n compliance and areas of improvement.
- Work with international product teams to ensure solutions align with localization best practices.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other developers on i18n considerations.
- Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
Desired Qualification / certifications
- 5 years of professional experience in Python development.
- Strong understanding of internationalization (i18n) concepts, challenges, and solutions.
- Experience working with internationalized applications (web or desktop) and localization workflows.
- Solid understanding of static code analysis, AST parsing, and/or regex-based code inspection.
- Familiarity with i18n standards across different frameworks (e.g., gettext, ICU, Babel, etc.).
- Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred relevant work experience
- Experience working on internationalized applicationssuch as global websites, enterprise SaaS products, or cross-border platforms requiring multilingual support.
- Exposure to multi-region deployments, where awareness of timezone, currency, cultural formatting, and right-to-left (RTL) rendering is essential.
Skills and knowledge
- Advanced Python programming skills, with a focus on writing clean, efficient, and modular code.
- Experience with tools like pylint, flake8, or custom linters.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript or other frontend languages is a plus.
- Strong debugging and diagnostic skills, particularly in identifying localization/i18n issues in code.
- Understanding of software configuration for multi-locale builds and localized deployments.
