Data Science Manager @ Jet2 Travel

Reporting to the General Manager - Data Science, the Data Science Manager will be a key part of the Data Science Management Team, ensuring that the team are delivering high quality Data Science initiatives. In this exciting new role, you will be expected to collaborate with business and data teams, building out advanced analytics and machine learning solutions to solve and optimise complex business problems.

Key Responsibilities: What will you do in the role With strong experience in managing Data Science teams and taking projects from concept to production, you will be responsible for a team of Data Scientists, driving them to deliver against the agreed Data Science Roadmap. You will also:

• Coach and develop the Data Science team to leverage cutting edge Data Science, Machine Learning AI solutions.

• Develop advanced, automated, real-time models to accurately predict impacts driven by market and business changes.

• Be expected to apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our customers interact with us and the levers with which we can drive commercial impact.

• Working with the business to understand what business questions need to be asked and determine the best route to answer them.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience (Candidate Requirements):

• Minimum 8+ experience in data science, machine learning


• Minimum 2+ years of experience in managing Data Science ML teams


• You will be highly numerate with a strong technical background with a proven ability to maintain hands on technical contribution whilst managing a team.

  • Be experienced in using Python or similar statistical analysis package.
  
  
  • Have strong SQL skills and the ability to create clear data visualisations in tools such as Tableau.
  
  
  • Be able to demonstrate your experience in leading data scientists and have hands on experience of project delivery.
  
  
  • Experience of building and deploying Machine Learning solutions
  
  
  • Sound understanding of data warehousing and ETL tools.
  
  
  • Strong drive to master new tools, platforms, and technologies.
  
  
  • Methodical approach with good attention to detail
  
  
  • Effective communication skills - Ability to work with international teams and across cultures.
  
  
  • Experienced in communicating with cross regional business team.
  
  
  • Experience of working with regions such as US, UK, Europe or any international
  
  
  • Working knowledge of Agile framework is good to have.
  
  
  • Liaise with the Data Engineers, Technology Leaders Business Stakeholder with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide excellent standard support.
