Urgently hiring Assistant Manager for New Product Development for an auto components manufacturing company at Maraimalai Nagar ,Chengalpattu.
A New Product Development (NPD) Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and launching new products from concept to production. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, quality, and marketing to ensure that new products meet customer requirements, cost targets, and quality standards.
Conceptualize and design new products based on market trends, customer requirements, and business goals.
Prepare 3D models, drawings, and design documentation using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Perform design calculations and simulations to validate functionality and performance.
Lead and manage NPD projects from initiation to completion within defined timelines and budgets.
Develop and maintain project plans, track milestones, and coordinate with stakeholders.
Ensure timely communication of progress, risks, and solutions.
Develop and oversee the creation of prototypes for concept validation.
Coordinate and perform product testing for functionality, reliability, and compliance.
Analyze test results and refine designs as needed.
Work with manufacturing and process engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effective production.
Participate in process development and optimization for new products.
Support pilot builds and initial production runs to resolve technical issues.
Maintain thorough documentation of designs, specifications, revisions, and test reports.
Ensure all products meet applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, CE, RoHS).
Contribute to design control and quality assurance systems.
Collaborate with marketing, sales, and customer service teams to incorporate feedback and market needs.
Support supply chain in identifying and qualifying new materials or suppliers.
Assist in training internal teams on new products and features.
Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. A masters degree or specialized certification is an advantage.
Experience: 10 years of experience in new product development, preferably in manufacturing, automotive or engineering industries.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD).
Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), FMEA, and product lifecycle management.
Experience in prototyping, testing, and validation.
Soft Skills:
