Position Overview:
Medhavi Skills University is seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Counselor to join our team at the Dhanbad campus. The Academic Counselor will play a pivotal role in guiding students through their academic journeys, ensuring their personal and professional growth, and aligning their aspirations with the universitys skill-focused curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Counseling:
Provide one-on-one academic and career counseling to students.
Assist students in selecting courses, understanding academic requirements, and planning their educational paths.
Address academic challenges and provide strategies for improvement.
Career Guidance:
Guide students on career options based on their skills, interests, and aspirations.
Organize career counseling workshops, seminars, and sessions.
Stay updated on market trends to provide relevant career insights.
Admissions Support:
Collaborate with the admissions team to counsel prospective students.
Explain course offerings, university policies, and career benefits to potential students.
Student Development Activities:
Design and implement initiatives that foster student engagement and skill enhancement.
Support extracurricular activities that complement academic learning.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain detailed records of counseling sessions and student progress.
Collaborate with faculty and administrative teams to ensure a holistic student experience.
Prepare reports on student performance and counseling effectiveness.
Conflict Resolution:
Act as a mediator to address and resolve academic or personal issues faced by students.
Provide support and resources to help students overcome obstacles.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelors/Masters degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
Experience: Freshers or 1-3 years of experience in academic counseling, student support services, or a similar role.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Empathetic, approachable, and student-focused mindset.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with student management systems is a plus.
Fluency in English and Hindi; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
