The Firmwide Data Office (FDO) is a group within Cyber Data Risk and Resiliency Division that focuses on data as a key priority of Brokerages overall Strategy. FDO develops common principles for ownership, distribution and consumption of data, tooling and standards for data accessibility, a framework for governing data and help address data architecture and data quality issues for new and existing initiatives at the firm by collaborating heavily with various business units and technology functions in the firm.
This Senior Developer position is to extend the suite of tooling capabilities that we provide to development teams. These capabilities enable several data governance outcomes to be met and includes core engineering work to integrate various applications to central Firmwide Data Catalog and Data Quality controls. The candidate will be involved in the entire development lifecycle, including direct interaction with our clients (other development teams) across the firm to adopt these capabilities. - Collaborate with development teams across the firm to understand their development practices and system architectures.
- Design and implement developer tooling across multiple technologies to meet data governance outcomes.
- Lead the design, development and implementation of introspection solutions using Java, ensuring robust and efficient code
- Build custom tooling and libraries to enable advanced introspection capabilities within our software applications
- Create comprehensive technical documentation for introspection processes and tools
- Collaborate with development teams to adopt introspection components seamlessly into existing software systems
- Implement mechanisms for collecting feedback from the development teams and stakeholders
- Diagnose and debug complex issues related to introspection and provide efficient solutions
- Conduct code reviews, provide mentorship to junior developers and enforce coding standards and best practices
- Strong knowledge on industry trends and emerging technologies related to introspection, recommending, and implementing relevant improvements
- Knowledge sharing with our global team.
- Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Java Developer with at least 5 years in senior or lead roles
- Proficiency in Java and familiarity with relevant libraries and frameworks such as Spring
- Proficiency in building efficient and maintainable code for large-scale application.
- Experience with performance optimization, profiling and debugging.
- Familiarity with software design principles, design patterns and best practices
- Familiarity with Web Services (REST and SOAP).
- Familiarity with Agile Development Methodologies
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written .
