A food and beverage (F&B) captain, Steward manages the service of food and drinks at a restaurant or hotel. They are responsible for ensuring a positive dining experience for guests.
Responsibilities
Guest service: Greet guests, answer questions, and address concerns
Menu: Explain menu items, recommend dishes, and answer questions about ingredients
Service: Serve food and drinks, and present the bill
Staff: Supervise and train servers, and organize their duty roster
Operations: Ensure the outlet is set up for service, and maintain inventory
Event planning: Set up functions for events, and work with the sales and marketing team
Quality: Maintain quality standards, and ensure food safety and hygiene
Performance: Monitor service operations, and identify areas for improvement
Skills and requirements
Excellent communication skills
Ability to handle stressful situations
Knowledge of food and beverage operations
Proficiency in using POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Flexibility to work various shifts
