What Youll Do
Avalara is looking for a Senior Technical Lead to drive forward and oversee exciting integration of a brand-new financing and payments platform with Avalara s e-invoicing system. We are growing and evolving our products and are looking for motivated people to join us on this journey. A successful candidate will be a well-rounded, experienced technical lead with a proven track record of leading and enabling teams in the design, build and testing of enterprise level software solutions.
Delivery of scalable and secure software solutions
Harbor dependent technical expertise across multiple projects/teams
Collaborate with various stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Security etc.) to establish solution specification and leverage deep technical knowledge to oversee execution
Analyze current solutions and procedures to identify holistic areas for improvement
Oversee and advocate for high technical standards
Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise level engineering strategies
Provide support and guidance for junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the organization (force multiplier, drive components of multiple teams, up-level those around you)
Communication of problems/solutions with VPs and other members of senior management
Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure timely support for production systems. This includes troubleshooting and resolving critical issues outside of regular working hours, following the team s rotation schedule.
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
Technical
Experience in complex solutions architecture design
Experience in delivering microservice oriented software services
Experience in delivering business value within the contraints of monolithic software applications
Experience in the deployment of monitoring and alerting tools to enterprise level applications
Experience in the development and maintenance of enterprise level engineering strategies
Experience in analysing and troubleshooting complex issues and critical production problems

Minimum of 3 years of experience at a Senior Technical Lead level
Experience in leading teams and mentoring junior engineers to success
Experience in providing constructive feedback (technical and non-technical) to ensure the best results for the company are met
Experience in the communication of technical challenges and solutions to a wide range of audiences
Experience working and liaising with various stakeholders (Product, Programme, Customer Support)
Experience working within dispersed non co-located teams
Experience in agile methodologies and processes
Experience working with JIRA
