We are actively seeking a skilled Python Developer to join our growing team. As a Python Developer, your primary role will be to code, implement, and maintain server-side logic and APIs that power our suite of applications. Collaboration with frontend development, other Engineering teams, and product teams is vital to ensure the seamless integration of user facing features with backend functionality using the Serverless framework in the AWS Lambda environment. Your contributions will be pivotal in delivering robust, high-performance applications and APIs to our global user base. Escalon is a rapidly growing company that provides essential back-office services such as accounting, HR, IT, etc., to thousands of clients around the world. As part of the engineering team, you would be helping develop the products that empower overall business growth not only for Escalon but our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Write reusable, testable, and efficient code and maintain unit tests that ensure proper code coverage and testing.
- Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
- Design and implement low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications.
- Implement security and data protection.
- Encourage the use of quality open-source libraries while being mindful of licensing and long-term viability.
- Utilize the existing DevOps pipeline for compilation and deployment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or at least 4 years of experience in enterprise software development in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience in Python, ideally within the Serverless framework.
- Solid expertise in object-oriented programming principles using core Python.
- Experience in AWS serverless environment services.
- Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds. Good understanding of server-side templating languages (e.g., Jinja2).
- Understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML5.
- Experience in designing and developing loosely coupled serverless applications and REST APIs.
- Proficient in querying and designing SQL databases.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, Fargate, S3, RDS, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, Parameter Store.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with service-oriented architecture (SOA) design principles and best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, including version control, CI/CD, and unit testing
