Job Title: Manager Stores (Retail)

Location: Chennai
Department: Retail
Reports To: Regional / State Head


Role Overview:

Berger Paints India is looking for a dynamic and result-oriented professional to lead the expansion and performance of its branded retail outlets in Hyderabad. The Manager Stores (Retail) will be responsible for onboarding new stores, ensuring operational excellence, driving secondary sales, and building a strong influencer network within the building material industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, map, and convert potential building material dealers into Berger-branded retail stores.
  • Open and manage new store formats including Store-in-Store and DOCO (Dealer Operated Company Outlets).
  • Oversee end-to-end execution of store setup ensuring strict process adherence and seamless operations.
  • Drive and achieve primary and secondary sales targets for all assigned stores.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor store personnel to deliver operational excellence and drive consistent sales growth.
  • Convert retail project sites through engagement with builders, architects, interior designers, and engineers associated with stores.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key influencers to ensure long-term sales generation.
  • Strategically convert key contractors aligned with competition.
  • Collaborate with the Head Office Store Team to maintain brand standards, store hygiene, and ensure operational consistency across locations.
  • Convert walk-in customers and digital leads into buyers through effective in-store and follow-up engagement.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience: 810 years in the building material industry, with a strong understanding of retail and influencer-driven sales.
  • Network: Strong existing relationships with dealers, distributors, and key stakeholders including builders, architects, and interior designers.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Strong negotiation and deal-closing abilities
    • Proven leadership and team mentoring capability
    • Self-motivated and result-oriented with the ability to work independently
    • Strong market understanding and competitor awareness

Educational Qualification:

  • Graduate (MBA preferred)

  • Customer-centric with strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Analytical thinker and a strong team player
