Job Description
This role will be managing the conceptual layout design, Execution commissioning and maintenance of manufacturing systems, equipment, and processes while ensuring all projects are executed on time, within scope, and budget. The Manager will also be responsible for fostering a culture of continuous Improvement and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Role & responsibilities -
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the Engineering & project teams, including engineering, maintenance for process optimization, and technical services departments.
- Aware about ERP System
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for engineering and technical operations in alignment with the companys objectives.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to drive innovation in manufacturing processes, systems, and technology.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to engineers, technical staff, and project teams, promoting professional development and a collaborative culture.
- Ensure that all engineering projects support business growth and enhance manufacturing capabilities, including scalability and cost efficiency.
2. Project Execution & Management
- Oversee the execution of large-scale engineering projects, from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements.
- Detailing of process/ Utility equipments like Reactors, condensers, ANFD/ CF, Jet mill chilling plants, hot water systems, hot oil system, single fluid heating cooling units, HVAC, Air compressors, Boiler, compressors & Automation
- Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, including facility upgrades, equipment installation, and process optimization projects.
- Establish clear project objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation, and communicate progress regularly to senior management.
- Monitor and report on project milestones, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
3. Engineering & Technical Operation
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing systems and processes, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Lead efforts to integrate new technologies and processes that drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting, process improvements, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with R&D and production teams to support the commercialization of new pharmaceutical products, including process scale-up and technology transfer.
- In-depth practical experience of equipment involved in API manufacturing.
4. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure that all engineering activities meet or exceed regulatory standards (FDA, GMP, PMDA etc.) and adhere to internal quality systems and procedures.
- Lead efforts to maintain GMP compliance and certification, ensuring that engineering and technical teams are fully trained and adhere to industry best practices.
- Implement risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate engineering and project-related risks that could impact the business.
5. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost- effective and efficient allocation of resources across engineering projects and operations.
- Monitor and optimize operational costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and project expenses.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements in all technical and engineering functions.
6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by leading process optimization, automation, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and proactively incorporate them into the engineering and manufacturing strategy.
- Champion sustainability initiatives, ensuring that engineering solutions support the company's sustainability goals and reduce environmental impact.
Preferred candidate profile:-
- Bachelors degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related field.)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical API regulated manufacturing with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing engineering or technical operations.
- Proven track record of successful project execution in pharmaceutical API manufacturing, including capital projects, process improvement, and technology implementation.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, including GMP, FDA, PMDA, and other global regulatory agencies.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing operations, involved equipment, and engineering best practices.
- Knowledge of automation and digital technologies used in pharmaceutical manufacturing is a plus.
- Exceptional understanding of operational efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
