The Job Role

The Bengaluru Kubernetes Core team s responsibility, among others, currently comprises of the concrete responsibility for Gardener https://github.com/gardener namely -

• Managing the machines/nodes of the cluster across different cloud provider via machine controller manager.
• etcd- backup- restore as the central store for Gardener objects with first class backup and restore capabilities
• Control plane engineering endeavors to achieve highly scalable clusters running at most optimal operating costs.

Expectations and tasks

• Demonstrate excellent quality, design, development and delivery skills in scrum teams working in short development and release cycles.
• Demonstrate excellent coding skills to develop the respective modules as well as ensure excellent quality by delivering automated unit, integration and acceptance tests as part of every release .
• Use and extend Open Source frameworks heavily and contribute to them, as well.
• Work seamlessly with geographically distributed teams.
• Create a mindshare for Gardener and your component in the open- source community.
• Represent Gardener at Kubernetes and Cloud- native technology events with paper/talk submissions.

Job Qualifications

• Masters / Bachelor s in Computer Science from IITs, IISc, NIT s
• Excellent knowledge in at least one scripting and one programming language (Go preferred)
• Strong experience with Unix/Linux internals.
• Excellent understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Preference: Hands- on experience in one or more (cloud) infrastructure services and technologies e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenStack, VMWare, OpenShift.

• Good understanding in cloud native development, cloud computing, distributed systems and container orchestration technology such as Kubernetes with working knowledge of Gardener will be a plus.
• Exposure to BDD test automation frameworks like ginkgo and gomega.
• Prior working knowledge of applying design patterns/anti- patterns will be a plus.
