Plant Head - Automotive Industry
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations Management
- Lead and manage all functions of the plant including Production, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, and Stores. Ensure daily production targets are achieved with a focus on quality, cost, and delivery timelines. Drive performance through KPI-based management of processes and people.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute plant-level strategies in alignment with organizational objectives. Forecast capacity, resource requirements, and budget needs for smooth plant functioning. Lead new product introductions and process transitions with cross-functional collaboration.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to quality standards like IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Champion quality improvement initiatives, audit compliance, and corrective action implementation. Promote a zero-defect mindset and customer-centric approach across the workforce.
Cost Control & Financial Oversight
- Manage plant budgets, monitor costs, and implement cost-reduction programs. Optimize energy usage, raw material consumption, and maintenance expenses. Track and report operational metrics to senior leadership with actionable insights.
Leadership & People Development
- Lead a large, multi-disciplinary team with a focus on performance, accountability, and engagement. Establish a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and safety. Mentor and develop plant-level leadership to build a high-performing workforce.
Safety, Health & Environment (EHS)
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain a safe working environment and instill strong EHS practices across the plant. Monitor and drive sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient operations.
Technology & Process Innovation
- Implement best practices in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and digital manufacturing. Drive automation and process optimization projects to enhance plant performance. Use data analytics and digital tools (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) to improve decision-making.
