Role: Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer Retail Commissions and Amortization
Location: Remote
Work timing: US EST Hours
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join our Retail Commissions and Amortization team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting batch applications using Oracle PL/SQL. The role requires strong experience in Oracle development, data warehousing, and production support, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with business and IT teams analysts.
Key Responsibilities:
Development & Enhancement:
- Design, develop, and maintain Oracle PL/SQL applications including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
- Analyze data requirements and source relationships to support commissions report generation.
- Work closely with IT Leads and Analysts to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
- Utilize Oracle features like analytical functions, MERGE statements, WITH clause, partitioning, external tables, and exception handling.
- Create and test Unix scripts to manage file transfers via sFTP.
- Optimize code performance and follow team-established coding standards and versioning protocols (SVN).
- Conduct unit and system testing, ensure alignment with production outputs before UAT.
Production Support:
- Monitor and maintain daily/weekly/monthly batch processes and quickly resolve failures to meet SLAs.
- Provide off-hours support during weekdays and weekends as needed.
- Handle ad-hoc requests including data pulls, table updates, and minor enhancements.
- Coordinate with ControlM/Redwood scheduling teams and follow SOX-compliant deployment practices.
Documentation & Tools:
- Maintain proper documentation including job control documents and change requests.
- Use ServiceNow for managing incidents and change management processes.
- Prepare and submit change controls and job schedules for batch jobs.
Team Collaboration:
- Develop strong cross-functional relationships with analysts, DBAs, project managers, and IT peers.
- Demonstrate initiative and independence in task execution.
- Proactively communicate issues, risks, and delays to appropriate stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- 15+ years of professional software development experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle PL/SQL development.
- 12+ years of experience in Oracle 12c/19c environments.
- 5+ years in a Data Warehouse environment.
- Proven expertise in Oracle features such as analytical functions, MERGE, partitioning, and performance tuning.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with job scheduling tools (ControlM/Redwood), version control (SVN), and ticketing systems (ServiceNow).
- Prior experience in SOX-compliant deployment environments.
