Strong understanding of the OSI model and IPv4 networking concepts
Foundational knowledge of VLANs and port security
Basic to intermediate understanding of firewall technologies including NAT, ACLs, routing policies, and VPNs
Familiarity with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts
Working knowledge of network protocols and services such as DHCP, DNS, SNMP, and Syslog
Experience in basic switch and router configuration
Understanding of Spanning Tree Protocol
Knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (basic level), particularly OSPF
