Job Description
Minimum of 3-5 years experience of working in a Quality Assurance (QA) role with experience testing Dataflows, ETL processes and Stored Procedures is required. |The candidate must possess the ability to read, understand, and execute Structured Query Language (SQL) to facilitate the development of data profiling and data validation scripts. Experience in testing various types of reports such as Power BI dashboards, Graphical, Tablix and Matrix reports and should be comfortable validating report functionality such as drill through, cascading parameters and rendering capabilities. A working understand of data models and their relationships will be needed in the role.
Responsibilities:
- Create & execute test strategies, test plans, test cases.
- Perform Functional, End-to-End, Backend testing and report/track defects.
- Actively participate in team meetings to understand Business, Functional and Technical requirements, and adapt/align test efforts with rapidly changing requirements.
- Collaborate with delivery team members to improve development processes.
- Participate in technical design reviews to develop test strategy and to make sure that all user requirements are covered by the QA test.
- Work closely with development & business teams to perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting and resolution of defects.
- Documentation of Testcases, test plans, and regression testing.
Qualifications
- 7 + years of overall QA experience.
- 3-5 Years of Software Quality Assurance experience on enterprise level Data Warehouse testing
- Must have excellent understanding of SDLC (Agile, Waterfall), STLC, defect life cycle and test management.
- Should have strong test process orientation and familiarity with Test Scenario Identification and Test Data Preparation Techniques.
- Must be experienced testing Business Intelligence Data Flows, Data warehouses and Data Marts.
- Strong Data Analysis skills and the ability to track a data element from source through transformation to target.
- Proficiency in ETL data validation, Source to target mapping using complex SQL queries.
- Must be able to write complex data validation SQL scripts.
- Extensive exposure to Backend/ETL testing with high-level of SQL skills is required to validate ETL and Business Intelligence processes.
- Should have exposure to large data sets and understand Data Quality Framework.
- Advanced knowledge of databases, data models, data mapping and data types.
- Understand data flow and test strategy for ETL, Data warehouse and Business Intelligence testing.
- Understand data sources and targets sufficiently to profile their data, develop thorough test plans, and validate and document the quality of the data.
- Data warehouse testing involving the testing of stored procedures, ETL Pipelines, packages, slowly changing dimension tables and Change Data capture etc.
- Experience in working with Star Schema, ODS, multi-dimensional models.
- Works collaboratively with business stakeholders, data architects, and analysts to improve overall data and process quality.
- Responsible for understanding the business definitions of data, where the data is collected, how it is published.
- Testing and validating data warehousing solutions consistent with the vision and direction of the departments Data Framework and Plan.
- Working closely with the business intelligence unit and internal customers to validate reports and analytics capability using BI Dashboards, SSRS Reports
- Assist business intelligence teams and business data analysts to troubleshoot data quality issues in their respective areas of responsibility.
- Ability to review and analyze business requirements to produce and document test strategy and test cases.
- Experience in validating Power BI and SSRS reports.
- Ability to work in an agile environment with an iterative approach to development.
- Participate in relevant Agile Ceremonies: Daily Stand-Ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives.
- Working knowledge of JIRA, Azure, GIT, Azure DevOps a plus.
