Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Operations Cloud Engineer to join our Foundation Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure, with a focus on AWS and Kubernetes environments. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our cloud-based services, including our customer portal.

What you will do: (Roles & Responsibilities)

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS services
  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters for running containerized applications
  • Implement and maintain cloud security best practices and compliance standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and applications
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve application deployment and performance
  • Automate operational processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual interventions
  • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity to ensure optimal service delivery
  • Participate in support for critical systems
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends

What you need to succeed: (MUST Haves)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud operations or DevOps roles
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience with AWS services and architecture
  • We're seeking a versatile Cloud Engineer who is eager to learn and work with diverse technologies. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with:
  • Cloud Services: Strong understanding of AWS, including S3 storage and Amazon Connect environments.
  • Containerization: Experience with enterprise-level container technologies, particularly Kubernetes and RedHat OpenShift. This includes designing resilient, supportable solutions and understanding various workloads.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Proficiency with CloudWatch, and preferably Splunk.
  • Infrastructure Support: Ability to manage services running on Kubernetes, including Lite Proxy for APIs, web servers (IBM HTTP Server), and a custom portal.
  • DevOps: Familiarity with CloudFormation, with plans to transition to Terraform.
  • Networking: Knowledge of contact center or other network-related services is a plus.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and support Amazon Connect environments, with training provided.
  • Independent Work: Comfort working autonomously, as other team members operate on Canadian overlapping hours.
  • The role involves diverse responsibilities, from configuring S3 storage to setting up Amazon Connect environments. The successful candidate will be a quick learner, adaptable to new technologies, and capable of working across different time zones.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Ideal Candidate will also have: (More preferred)

  • Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for multi-cloud environments
  • Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer)
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK stack)
  • Experience with database management and optimization in cloud environments
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and API design principles
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools
