Job Description
About the Role
Were searching for a hands-on engineer who excels with React and can comfortably contribute to a Python back-end. You will own and lead the entire front-end architecturesetting standards, mentoring peers, and collaborating with design and product to ship beautiful, performant web experiences. While the heavier back-end lifting is handled by other specialists, youll still jump in to build and maintain REST APIs, real-time services, and data models in our Python + SQL stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the React codebase: define coding standards, review pull requests, and guide overall front-end quality and direction.
- Architect reusable UI components with React, TypeScript, modern state management, and automated testing.
- Implement real-time features using WebSockets and WebRTC for rich, low-latency interactions.
- Manage the front-end build pipeline (Webpack/Vite, CI/CD) and observability (logging, metrics), ensuring fast, reliable releases.
- Collaborate on Python back-end services (FastAPI / Flask) and write efficient SQL for MySQL or PostgreSQL as needed.
- Design and consume REST APIs in partnership with back-end engineers, maintaining clear, stable contracts.
- Champion developer experience: promote best practices, automated tests, and the use of AI-powered IDEs or code-assist tools to boost productivity.
Must-Have Skills
- 2 4 years of professional experience building production web applications.
- Deep expertise in React (hooks, context, functional patterns, performance optimization).
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3 skills.
- Hands-on experience with WebSockets and WebRTC, and a solid grasp of real-time communication patterns.
- Working knowledge of Python back-end frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or Django REST Framework).
- Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Solid command of SQL (schema design, joins, indexes) on MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and a test-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven sense of ownership.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience using AI-powered IDEs or code-assist tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer).
- Knowledge of Docker and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Exposure to GraphQL or additional real-time transports.
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Sentry, Datadog, Prometheus).
