Junior GIS Engineer @ SBL Knowledge Services

Job Description

Job Summary:

SBL Corp is seeking enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior GIS Engineers to support our geospatial projects on a contract/staff augmentation basis for a period of 3 months. The selected candidate(s) will be placed at any of our office locations across India and will contribute to the execution of GIS-related tasks including spatial data processing, digitization, georeferencing, mapping, and basic analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform digitization, vectorization, and map creation using GIS tools like ArcGIS/QGIS.
• Georeference raster data and align vector datasets.
• Assist in the data migration, QC, and validation processes.
• Prepare thematic maps, attribute tables, and reports as per project requirements.
• Handle satellite imagery and carry out basic remote sensing operations.
• Coordinate with internal project teams for timely deliverables.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and quality control standards are met.
• Maintain documentation of work processes and results.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering/Diploma, or any relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with basic cartographic principles and spatial data formats.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
• Good understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and map scales.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred (But Not Mandatory):

• Internship or academic project experience in GIS.
• Exposure to tools like AutoCAD, ERDAS Imagine, or Global Mapper.
• Basic scripting knowledge in Python or ModelBuilder is a plus.
