Cloud computing allows us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and
pursue next-generation innovation. To continue this transformation, were seeking an experienced
Azure Cloud Engineer who has expertise in strategy, design, development, and implementation of
large-scale projects in the Azure cloud.
The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and
an ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive
knowledge of Azure cloud services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), networking, and source control,
along with experience in managing cloud deployments and advanced industry knowledge, are
essential to keep us on the cutting edge.
The Cloud Engineer will have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of IT operations and
an ongoing impact on growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal Azure
based solutions for the company.
- Define and document the best practices and strategies regarding application deployment,
Infrastructure as Code, infrastructure security, and cloud networking.
- Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to developer teams to build their Azure
cloud and DevOps competencies.
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code
quality, automation, and thoughtful design.
- Manage and monitor Azure environments in accordance with company security and
compliance guidelines.
- At the direction of lead architects, develop and implement technical efforts to design, build,
and deploy Azure applications, including large-scale data processing, statistical modeling, and
advanced analytics.
- Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle for Azure-based solutions,
including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
- Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Bicep to provision, manage, and
version infrastructure across Azure environments.
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps for automated
infrastructure and application deployments.
- Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement
preventive measures.
- Work with the Beazley Networks Team to support the configuration and management of Azure
networking services such as Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, and Azure Firewall to
ensure secure and scalable access to applications.
- Work with the Beazley IT Security Team to support the configuration and management of Azure
security, including identity management, role-based access control (RBAC), network security
groups (NSGs), and private endpoints.
- Educate teams on the implementation of new Azure-based cloud initiatives, providing
associated training when necessary.
- Utilize Git and GitHub for version control, collaboration, and infrastructure code reviews.
Technical Skills Required:
- Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform (preferred),
Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Solid understanding of source control systems like Git and experience working with GitHub or
Azure Repos.
- Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of the Azure Well-Architected
Framework.
- Experience in several of the following areas: Azure database architecture, Azure Data Factory,
Azure Synapse, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics.
- Familiarity with Azure networking and security, including services such as:
Azure Front Door
Azure Application Gateway
Azure Firewall
NSGs, VNets, and Private Endpoints
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data
scientists, and subject-matter experts.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and container technologies like Docker
and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Five or more years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing
cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure platforms.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate recent practical experience of the technologies described in the Job Spec.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Preferred Certifications:
