The Senior Director, Development is responsible for the development and delivery of a suite of global enterprise application services within Dayforce s Product & Technology organization.
This technology leader will enable their application development teams to deliver outstanding value to the business by ensuring operational excellence at every level. Responsibilities include establishing technical vision and ensuring excellent technical and architectural decision-making across their application development teams. Additionally, this leader will be responsible for recruiting world-class, g engineering talent with deliberate and effective hiring strategies.
As a senior people leader, you must ensure well-defined career paths and growth opportunities for our application development management and team members as well as provide exceptional coaching to your organization. Working with stakeholders across the organization and the executive team is critical to ensure that engineering is moving in lockstep with larger business and organizational goals. What you ll get to do
Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead, manage, and scale multiple engineering teams, ensuring alignment globally across product, design, engineering, and business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, guiding teams to adopt industry best practices and proven technologies
  • Collaborate closely with product, technology, design and business teams to define and execute a long-term technical strategy and technology roadmap
  • Drive technical decision-making and ensure that architecture and solutions meet both current and future business needs.
  • Coach and develop senior engineering leaders, creating compelling career growth opportunities for high potential engineers.
Execution & Delivery
  • Institute and drive a quality-first mindset while ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality features and product updates while continuously improving system stability and scalability.
  • Lead by example in fostering a results-oriented, agile development mindset with a strong focus on security, quality, performance, and scale.
  • Oversee the successful execution of large-scale, complex engineering initiatives that have a direct impact on customer success and business growth.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Customer Support, Customer Success, Product Management, and Professional Services
Process & Performance Management
  • Hire top talent and consistently ensure the team is equipped with the right competencies to align with the company strategy and goals
  • Implement and optimize engineering processes, tools, and frameworks that improve team productivity, quality and collaboration.
  • Establish a tight feedback loop with key stakeholders to assess the impact of engineering initiatives and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Accurately forecast and effectively manage team budget.
Innovation & Technology Evolution
  • Consistently explore new technologies, industry trends and best practices with an eye towards enhancing the platform and the suite of products.
  • Lead and foster a culture of innovation by inspiring and encouraging the team to innovate with purpose and consistently evolve the products in service of our customers.
Financial Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the delivery of department financial targets for capitalization, expense, and overall profitability
Skills and experiences we value
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent industry and leadership experience
  • Deep experience and successful track record in designing, building and scaling enterprise-grade cloud-based SaaS platforms and applications.
  • Experienced in inspiring, recruiting, building, scaling and managing high performing teams and holding them accountable to agreed-upon outcomes.
  • Excellent at coaching and mentoring members of the team, engagement and collaboration.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with agile/scrum principles and development methodologies.
  • Forward thinking: Continually striving to improve the tools, technologies, and approaches we use.
  • Entrepreneurial in spirit and action, enjoys fast paced, agile environments.
  • Great business acumen and can translate strategic goals into tangible objectives and key results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective networks and leverage them appropriately.
  • Deep understanding of highly available and scalable multi-tenant cloud web applications, microservices, event-driven architecture, design systems, API Design, Azure solution architecture, Large Language Models.

  • Reliably deliver on product roadmap commitments including scope and schedule
  • Meet targets for hiring, retention and engagement of team members
  • Meet quality targets for finished product quality and quality related process improvements including code quality, code coverage and test automation
  • Build and maintain confidence with stakeholders and executive leadership through effective status reporting and reliable delivery of strategic innovation projects
