Job Description
- As a Design Engineer in our Engineering Department located in Cambridge, OH, you will play a crucial role in developing design documentation for various projects. Your primary responsibilities will include providing calculation and drawing support under the guidance of Project Engineers to ensure accurate and efficient completion of engineering tasks. Your duties will involve utilizing structural analyses and engineering design tools to input geometries, layouts, and designed sections for bridge designs. Additionally, you will be responsible for using CAD modeling software to translate designed elements into bridge layouts, sections, and material sizes for the creation of detailed bridge drawings. In this role, you will also assist in preparing Material Take-Off Estimates (MTOs) using spreadsheets and software, as well as contribute to field reconnaissance efforts to develop essential as-built records for Project Engineers. To excel in this position, you should possess a strong foundation in structural analysis, finite element analysis methods, and mechanics of materials, along with proficiency in relevant software programs. Familiarity with AASHTO Standard and LRFD Highway Bridge Specifications is essential, as well as exposure to bridge analysis software such as STAAD Pro, GT STRUDL, Midas Civil, or LARSA 4D, LEAP, among others. Furthermore, you should have a good understanding of construction methods and operations, the ability to accurately measure and record field details, and proficiency in creating precise plans and details in CAD using AutoCAD software. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent programs is also required. Ideally, you hold a 4-Year Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and possess an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate. The role may involve occasional travel to job sites or training facilities (less than 20%) and exposure to fabricating shops, but primarily entails working in a collaborative office environment.
