Job Description
ABAP & UI5 Resource: ABAP - 70% Proficiency + UI5 30% Proficiency Or Vice versa
ABAP Development (Back-end):
- Design and Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality ABAP programs, reports (ALV, Interactive), interfaces (IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, Proxies, Web Services), conversions (BDCs, LSMW), and enhancements (User Exits, BADIs, Enhancements Spots) based on functional specifications and business requirements.
- Develop and optimize OData services for consumption by Fiori/UI5 applications, ensuring efficient data exchange between front-end and back-end systems.
- Proficiency in modern ABAP development paradigms including Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP) and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming (RAP) model, especially in an S/4HANA environment.
- Strong understanding and experience with Core Data Services (CDS) views for data modeling and analytical reporting.
- Performance Optimization & Debugging:
- Analyze and optimize existing ABAP code for performance improvements using tools like ABAP Trace, SQL Trace, and Runtime Analysis.
- Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues and defects in ABAP programs and standard SAP functionalities.
- Module Expertise:
- Solid understanding and development experience in at least 2-3 key SAP modules such as SD, MM, FI/CO, PP, PM, or QM, including their integration points.
- Technical Documentation:
- Prepare comprehensive technical specifications, design documents, and unit test plans for all developed objects.
- Maintain detailed documentation of existing ABAP developments and configurations.
UI5/Fiori Development (Front-end):
- Application Development:
- Design, develop, and enhance custom SAP Fiori/UI5 applications from scratch, and extend/customize standard Fiori applications using SAP Web IDE / Business Application Studio.
- Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and XML.
- Strong understanding of the SAP UI5 framework, MVC (Model-View-Controller) architecture, and Fiori design principles and guidelines.
- Integration:
- Consume OData services created in the ABAP backend, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality between Fiori/UI5 apps and SAP back-end systems.
- Experience with Fiori Launchpad configuration, custom tile creation, and role-based access.
- User Experience (UX):
- Focus on developing intuitive, responsive, and visually appealing user interfaces that enhance the overall user experience on various devices (desktop, tablet, mobile).
- Conduct UI performance tuning and optimization for Fiori applications.
- Version Control & Collaboration:
- Work with version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development.
- Collaborate effectively with functional consultants, solution architects, UI/UX designers, and other technical teams throughout the project lifecycle.
General & Collaborative Responsibilities:
- Requirements Analysis: Actively participate in gathering and analyzing business requirements, translating them into technical specifications and viable SAP solutions.
- Testing: Conduct thorough unit testing, support integration testing, and assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Mentoring & Knowledge Sharing: Potentially mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
- Adherence to Standards: Ensure all development adheres to SAP best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
- Project Methodologies: Experience working in Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall project methodologies.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest SAP technologies, trends (e.g., SAP BTP, S/4HANA capabilities, embedded analytics), and industry best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-6 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development and SAP UI5/Fiori development.
- Strong proficiency in ABAP:
- RICEFW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows) development.
- Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP).
- OData service creation (SEGW).
- CDS Views.
- Experience with ABAP Debugger, ABAP Workbench, Data Dictionary.
- Good understanding of core SAP modules (e.g., SD, MM, FI/CO).
- Experience with S/4HANA is highly desirable, including ABAP RAP.
- Strong proficiency in SAP UI5/Fiori:
- Hands-on experience developing custom Fiori/UI5 applications.
- Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery.
- Experience with SAP Web IDE / Business Application Studio.
- Knowledge of Fiori Launchpad configuration and extension.
- Understanding of MVC architecture in UI5.
- Experience with Fiori Elements is a plus.
- Technical / Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- SAP Certification in ABAP or UI5/Fiori.
- Experience with SAP Cloud Platform (SAP BTP) services (e.g., Cloud Foundry, Integration Suite).
- Knowledge of SAP Workflow.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices in SAP (e.g., gCTS, Jenkins).
