Who You Are
 
We are seeking a Sr. DevOps Engineer to join the Critical Start Technologies Private Ltd. team, operating under the Critical Start umbrella, for our India operations. We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience in designing and managing scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure using modern DevOps practices.
The ideal candidate is a thought leader who combines strong technical expertise in AWS, Terraform, CI/CD, and container orchestration with a passion for automation, reliability, and mentoring others. You thrive in fast-paced environments, proactively drive improvements, and bring a strategic mindset to infrastructure design and operations. you've helped scale systems across multiple teams or business units and are trusted to set standards and influence technical direction across the engineering organization.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and automation strategies. you'll collaborate cross-functionally to guide the delivery of production-ready systems that are reliable, secure, and scalable.
 
Your responsibilities include:
  • Architecting complex infrastructure using Terraform (modular, reusable, and tested), and implementing advanced IaC principles (DRY, parameterization, GitOps).
  • Defining and driving DevOps strategy across environments staging, production, blue/green deployments, auto-scaling, and rollback mechanisms.
  • Designing scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or other tools for multiple teams and services.
  • Leading incident management and root cause analysis with thorough documentation and remediation planning.
  • Collaborating with engineering, security, and product teams to integrate DevSecOps best practices.
  • Monitoring infrastructure performance and proactively identifying areas for cost optimization, resilience, and scalability.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior and mid-level DevOps engineers, conducting code and design reviews, and establishing best practices.
  • Staying current with the latest industry trends and tools, and recommending adoption where relevant.
Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
  • Proven expertise in AWS (multi-account architecture, IAM strategy, ECS/Fargate, EC2, VPC, ALB/NLB, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, etc).
  • Advanced proficiency in Terraform, including custom providers, modules, remote state, and secure secret management.
  • Strong experience in building multi-stage CI/CD pipelines, release workflows, and integration with testing and security gates.
  • Proficiency in containerization (Docker), and orchestration (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes).
  • Excellent scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Knowledge of observability tooling (CloudWatch, Prometheus, New Relic, Grafana, Sentry.io) and proactive alerting mechanisms.
  • Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, security best practices, IAM policies, and cloud compliance standards.
  • Experience with infrastructure testing and compliance-as-code using tools like Terratest, InSpec, or tfsec.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust, least privilege, and modern cloud security models.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills across systems, applications, and networks.
  • Ability to document architecture, decisions, and playbooks clearly and concisely.
  • Experience mentoring and technically leading other DevOps team members.
  • bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional scripting experience is a strong plus.
  • AWS certifications (eg, Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer Professional)
  • Experience in a regulated environment (eg, SOC2, HIPAA, ISO 27001)
  • Knowledge of service mesh, API gateways, or hybrid/multi-cloud deployments
  • Contributions to open-source DevOps/IaC tools or internal reusable libraries
