Job Description

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced NXCAM Lead Application Engineer to provide technical leadership, application expertise, and customer support for Siemens NX CAM solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of NX CAM programming, post-processor development, CNC machine integration, and manufacturing process optimization.

You will act as a subject matter expert, leading NX CAM implementations, mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with design/manufacturing teams, and ensuring best practices in CAM programming and process automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Implementation
    • Lead the deployment and customization of Siemens NX CAM for various machining processes (milling, turning, multi-axis machining).
    • Develop, validate, and optimize post-processors and machine tool simulations.
    • Provide advanced technical support for NX CAM users, including troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Process Optimization & Automation
    • Work with manufacturing teams to analyze, optimize, and automate CNC programming workflows.
    • Integrate NX CAM with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) and shop-floor solutions.
    • Support tool library management, machining templates, and process standardization.
  • Collaboration & Training
    • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and IT teams to ensure seamless CAD-CAM integration.
    • Train and mentor engineers, machinists, and programmers on NX CAM best practices.
    • Provide feedback to Siemens and internal stakeholders on feature enhancements.
  • Project & Customer Engagement
    • Lead NX CAM implementation projects for internal teams or external customers.
    • Act as a technical advisor for complex machining requirements.
    • Support pre-sales, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and technical presentations if needed.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in CAM programming, with at least 5+ years in Siemens NX CAM.
  • Strong expertise in multi-axis machining, milling, turning, and complex toolpath generation.
  • Hands-on experience with post-processor customization and simulation for CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with PLM integrations (Teamcenter) and digital manufacturing workflows.
  • Good understanding of CNC machine kinematics, G-code, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with cutting tool selection, machining strategies, and process optimization.
  • Ability to lead projects, mentor teams, and provide high-level technical support.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NX CAM Open API, NX Open, or automation scripting.
  • Exposure to additive manufacturing workflows in NX.
  • Knowledge of other CAM software for comparative analysis.
  • Background in Aerospace, Automotive, Heavy Machinery, or Tooling industries.

Education:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
