Job Description
Position: Network Engineer L2 Support
Experience: 4+ years
Job location: Hyderabad/Gurugram
Skills: Cisco switches, APs, wireless controllers, Palo Alto and Azure firewalls, Infoblox, Microsoft DNS/DHCP, Load balancers (F5, Azure), Cisco ISE, TACACS.
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled L2 Network Engineer to support and manage a wide range of network infrastructure components across on-premises and cloud environments. This role involves 24/7/365 monitoring, incident response, change execution, and proactive problem management. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with firewalls, switches, wireless infrastructure, cloud networking, and automation tools, and will work closely with L0, L1, and L3 teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of the network.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support & Monitoring
- 24/7/365 monitoring and support of:
- Firewalls (Palo Alto Cloud & On-Prem, Azure Firewall)
- Network Switches (Cisco)
- Wireless Access Points & Controllers (Cisco, DNAC)
- Network Authentication Services (Cisco ISE, TACACS)
- Load Balancers (On-prem & Cloud)
- DDI Nodes/Servers (Infoblox, Microsoft DNS/DHCP)
- Perform incident triage, root cause analysis, and escalation to L3/OEMs as needed.
- Execute expedite changes and fulfill service requests across global time zones.
Network Management
- Manage LAN/WAN infrastructure including:
- Datacenter LAN
- Wired & Wireless LAN
- Cloud Networking (Azure, AWS)
- Commission/decommission physical and virtual network assets.
- Perform backup configuration and restoration drills.
Automation & Tooling
- Utilize automated tools for:
- Health monitoring and incident healing
- Batch job execution and scripting
- Asset commissioning/decommissioning
- Patching, upgrades, and asset lifecycle management
ITIL Process Adherence
- Support ITIL-aligned processes:
- Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, and Availability Management
- Service Level and Capacity Management
- Maintain SOPs, hardening documents, and escalation matrices.
Lifecycle & Compliance Management
- Track and manage:
- Asset lifecycle (firmware, hardware refresh)
- License and warranty status
- OEM/vendor performance and SLA adherence
- Apply patches and hardening configurations per policy.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in:
- DR and backup restoration drills
- Capacity planning and performance tuning
- Continuous service improvement initiatives
Required skills:
- 4-8 years of experience in network operations or support roles.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Cisco switches, APs, wireless controllers
- Palo Alto and Azure firewalls
- Infoblox, Microsoft DNS/DHCP
- Load balancers (F5, Azure)
- Cisco ISE, TACACS
- Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS).
- Experience with automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.).
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes and network monitoring tools.
