Job Description
- You will be responsible for conducting functional type testing of AC protection functions for HVDC stations in accordance with IEC standards. This involves utilizing secondary injection kits and real-time simulation environments and obtaining certification from authorized external laboratories. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting global R&D projects by implementing and verifying the latest technology developments using Hardware in the Loop (HIL) environments. You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining the laboratory environment for various HVDC R&D projects and developing control and protection solutions covering the full development cycle for future HVDC technologies. Your responsibilities will also include developing test cases using EMT tools for testing HVDC control and protection functions in a virtual environment, creating automated test solutions for AC protection functions, and developing virtual unit testing solutions for HVDC protection functions. Additionally, you will assist in resolving issues related to protection functions, conducting pre-studies for proposed control and protection ideas, and suggesting improvements to enhance business operations. As a candidate, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a Master's in Power Systems, along with 2 to 8 years of relevant experience. You should possess knowledge in testing and commissioning of substation control and protection systems, understand various control and protection schematics of HV/LV electrical substations, and have a basic understanding of communication protocols like IEC61850 and MODBUS. Experience with secondary test kits such as Omicron and Doble is required, and familiarity with simulation software like PSCAD, MATLAB, and RTDS is advantageous. Moreover, any experience in power system design and engineering will be beneficial for this role. Knowledge of HVDC control and protection systems and experience with protection test case automation using scripts are considered valuable assets.
