Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - FEED Detail Engineering (Static, Rotary, Piping)
Location: Vadodara, Gujarat
Reports To: Lead Mechanical
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with expertise in FEED (Front End Engineering Design) and detailed engineering for Static, Rotary, and Piping equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the design, specification, and engineering of mechanical systems in large-scale chemical or fertilizer plants, specifically for Urea and Ammonia production.
This position is based in Vadodara, and the successful candidate will work on our Urea and Ammonia 2-train plant project. The role involves ensuring the mechanical design and engineering work meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the mechanical engineering activities for FEED and detailed design phases for static, rotary, and piping systems related to the Urea and Ammonia 2-train plant.
- Perform mechanical design calculations, prepare equipment datasheets, specifications, and technical evaluations.
- Review and approve vendor documentation for mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and codes.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (process, electrical, instrumentation, civil, etc.) to ensure integrated design solutions for the plant.
- Lead the development of piping layouts, material selection, stress analysis, and preparation of pipe supports, hangers, and brackets.
- Ensure the safe and effective operation of rotary equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.), including specification, selection, and maintenance planning.
- Perform site inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with design requirements and resolve any issues during construction and commissioning.
- Assist with the preparation of project schedules and deliverables, ensuring on-time completion of mechanical engineering tasks.
- Provide technical support to the procurement team during the selection of mechanical equipment and materials.
- Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting for mechanical systems, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on FEED and detail engineering in the fertilizer, chemical, or oil & gas industries.
- Hands-on experience with static equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, etc.), rotary equipment (compressors, pumps, turbines), and piping design.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, ASCE, etc.).
- Proficient in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, CAESAR II, PDS, PDMS, etc.).
- Experience in the Urea and Ammonia plant design or similar large-scale chemical processing plants is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment..
- Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in mechanical engineering.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in the fertilizer or ammonia/urea industry.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
- Understanding of international and local mechanical design codes and standards.
