Principal Lead Engineer is a key member of an agile team to deliver great products for our internal and external customers. In this lead role, you will be primarily responsible for end to end technical delivery of the product - including technical design, development, quality and performance of a web application - both as an individual contributor as well as coordinating and reviewing the work of other engineers on the team. You will also be responsible for the integration and overall support of your product across the tech stack, bring the best practices to improve the speed to market.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Infrastructure Lead with 10+ years of overall IT experience to architect, implement, and manage robust cloud infrastructure solutions. This role requires deep technical expertise in Amazon Web Services, infrastructure automation, and operational excellence. You will lead a team of cloud engineers and work closely with architecture, security, and development teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective environments. Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & Design
Design and implement secure, high-availability AWS architectures to meet business and technical requirements.
Define and enforce best practices around infrastructure design, cost optimization, and resilience.
Lead migration strategies for moving workloads to AWS.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
Develop and maintain infrastructure using tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
Automate deployment pipelines and configuration management for repeatability and efficiency.
Drive adoption of DevOps practices and tooling across the organization.
Operations & Governance
Oversee day-to-day operations of AWS environments, including monitoring, incident management, and performance optimization.
Establish and maintain security policies, compliance frameworks, and governance processes.
Implement effective backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
Team Leadership & Mentoring
Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers and administrators.
Provide technical guidance and establish standards for AWS infrastructure management.
Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, accountability, and continuous learning.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with software development, security, and business teams to align infrastructure with application needs.
Communicate infrastructure strategy, progress, and risks to leadership and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Experience
10+ years in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or related technical roles.
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale AWS environments.
Proven track record in leading infrastructure or cloud engineering teams.
Technical Skills
Expertise with core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc. ).
Strong experience in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK).
Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Solid understanding of networking, security, and identity management in the cloud.
Experience with CI/CD tools (e. g. , Jenkins, GitLab, AWS CodePipeline).
Preferred Qualifications:
DevOps Engineer - Professional, or equivalent.
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration on AWS (EKS, ECS).
Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures.
Exposure to compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC2, ISO 27001).
