"Job Description- Design, implement and manage large-scale, high-volume relational database systems
- Design, implement and develop ETL integration processes between operational systems and enterprise data warehouse
- Data Modeling - logical and physical design in a both OLTP and OLAP environment
- Insure data quality through development and testing best practices
- Design reporting platform to support both internal and external customers
- Participates in technical design and code reviews for all new enhancements and maintenance work delivered
- Participate in collaborative work with DBAs, Software Engineer, Business Analysts, Subject Matter Experts and Project Managers to achieve software solutions
- Participate on critical projects by providing development lead and developer duties
- Perform code reviews for peers
- Work closely with development teams to provide technical guidelines and deliver projects
- Ensure a well-tested and high quality product is delivered
- Minimum 5+ years experience performing data analysis and database design on enterprise DBMS
- Significant experience in enterprise data modelling
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral
- Proven ability to work both independently and in team-based environments
- Expertise in relational databases, SQL Server, BIDS and experience with Power Designer or similar modeling tools
- Demonstrated experience leading the technical design of a ROLAP/ MOLAP on an enterprise data warehouse
- Demonstrated experience leading the technical design of a OLTP database design
- Experience with ETL tools, data cleansing tools, customized web reporting
- Experience through the entire development cycle to ship software a must
- Proven ability to work both independently and in team-based environments
- Must be able to facilitate clarification of customer requirements as well as systems/software architecture and design
- Must be able to define and implement design and coding reviews, and to mentor others in appropriate techniques and patterns
Develops and implements state of the art information technology strategies and platforms that meet current and future business needs. Performs all aspects of data and database administration including hardware and software evaluation and installation, logical and physical database design and implementation, structured testing of database designs, applications, and technology platforms, security administration, backup and recovery planning, capacity planning, performance and tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques, and development of policies, standards and procedures related to the database environment.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
1. Deep knowledge and experience with relational and conventional database technology, data modeling concepts, tools and techniques, and general business operations
2. Knowledge and familiarity with front end and query tools, Linux/Unix/Windows like operating system, backup and recovery strategies, and performance and tuning techniques
3. Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
4. Extensive knowledge of MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle etc.
5. Extensive knowledge of Big Data and new database technologies
Essential Functions:
1. Leads a task force to develop and implement a database that addresses current and future SRDS business needs
2. Develops and implements complex data models and logical database designs
3. Designs, constructs and implements physical databases
4. Develops, revises and implements policies, standards, procedures and guidelines necessary to effectively administer the database environment
5. Plans and conducts structured testing of database designs to confirm functionality and performance
6. Develops and implements plans to oversee the data and database administration function, and ensures smooth transition to new technology
Other Functions:
1. Performs routine and customary operational and monitoring activities to ensure the database environment is stable and capable of meeting ongoing business needs
2. Plans and executes testing and implementation of major systems
3. Evaluates technology and techniques to implement and maintain databases and database environment
4. Develops, implements and tests backup and recovery plans
- Experience with secure SQL development (T-SQL, DTS, Stored Procedures).
- Strong knowledge of database security
- Demonstrated experience developing complex data migration, transformation, synchronization, and replication jobs.
- 3+ years supporting SSRS or other reporting environments.
- Any high level language (C/C++/ Java / C#) experience a plus
- Demonstrated experience integrating MS SQL databases with .NET applications or MySQL with C/C++/Java applicatons. "
