Sr. Scientist- (Copper Team) @ Aditya Birla Sun Life

Job Description

You will be responsible for modelling the electro-refining or metallurgical process, validating models with plant data, and implementing the modelling outcomes. Additionally, you will develop and apply process fundamentals and engineering aspects of the electro-refining process to enhance cathode quality. You will design experiments or pilot trials for hypothesis validation and provide guidance to team members during the execution of Design of Experiments (DOE). Your role will involve developing project scopes, technical ideation, evaluating and proposing technical solutions, as well as publishing work in conferences and refereed journals. You will be responsible for project scoping and delivery, customer interactions, obtaining Voice of Customer (VOC), and documentation. Furthermore, you will need to understand the impact of upstream processes on cathode quality/metal recovery and how cathode quality influences subsequent wire-rod quality. Process benchmarking, continuous knowledge updates through interactions with experts, and guiding team members in technical project aspects will also be part of your responsibilities. Desired Skillsets: Must have: - Strong research inclination in Process Metallurgy areas (Ferrous or non-ferrous) - Modeling experience in electrolysis/refining - In-depth knowledge in electrochemistry and reaction modelling - Problem-solving capability - Willingness to lead a team - Willingness to work at the plant for an extended duration - Communication skills related to team management Good to Have: - Programming skills (Fluent UDF, C, Python, etc.) - Knowledge of simulation tools such as Ansys Fluent or COMSOL - Knowledge of Material characterization techniques Qualifications: - M. Tech or Ph.D. in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering from a premier institute with good academic and professional experience Experience: - Ph.D. with 1 to 2 years of experience - M. Tech with 5 to 8 years of experience,
