Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Project Leadership:
    • Lead and manage the full project lifecycle for complex, high-impact projects in the banking domain (e.g., core banking transformations, digital banking initiatives, regulatory compliance projects like AML/KYC, payments modernization, data analytics platforms).
    • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed timelines, resource allocation, budget management, and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Drive the execution of project activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budgets.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across business units, technology teams, operations, compliance, and external vendors.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications, providing regular, transparent updates on project status, risks, and issues.
    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, ensuring all parties are aligned and working towards common goals.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and proactively address concerns or escalations.
  • Risk & Compliance Management:
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and dependencies, developing contingency plans to ensure project continuity.
    • Ensure all project deliverables and processes adhere to relevant banking regulations, compliance standards (e.g., RBI guidelines, industry best practices), and internal policies.
    • Lead discussions with legal and compliance teams to embed regulatory requirements into project design and execution.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship:
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring they have the necessary resources and skills to deliver on their responsibilities.
    • Conduct performance reviews and support the professional development of team members.
  • Financial & Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost-effective delivery.
    • Optimize resource utilization across projects, including internal teams and external consultants/vendors.
    • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and benefits realization post-implementation.
  • Process Improvement & Quality Assurance:
    • Implement and enforce robust project governance frameworks and project management best practices (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid methodologies).
    • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and methodologies.
    • Ensure comprehensive project documentation is maintained and audit-ready.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field. MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Project Management within the Banking and Financial Services domain is mandatory.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering multiple large-scale, complex projects in a banking environment.
  • Deep understanding of banking products, operations, technology landscapes (e.g., Core Banking Systems, Payments, Lending, Wealth Management, Digital Channels), and regulatory frameworks.
  • Mandatory Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 Practitioner.
  • Preferred Certifications: Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master - CSM, SAFe), Lean Six Sigma.
  • Strong proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana, Confluence).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and manage stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
