Job Description

The Pharmacist at Manipal Hospitals is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients. This role involves preparing and dispensing prescribed medications, providing counsel to patients on the proper use of their medications, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. The Pharmacist will also be involved in maintaining accurate medication records, managing inventory, and participating in quality assurance activities to enhance the medication management processes within the hospital.  


Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately and in accordance with legal and professional standards.
- Counsel patients on medication therapy, side effects, and best practices for medication adherence.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Review medication orders for appropriateness, interactions, and contraindications.
- Monitor patient's medication therapies and provide recommendations to optimize treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, restocking, and monitoring expiration dates.
- Participate in patient education programs and promote medication safety initiatives.
- Stay abreast of current drug information, updates in pharmacy practice, and relevant clinical guidelines. Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medication therapy management, and clinical guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and teamwork with healthcare professionals.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in medication dispensing and record-keeping.
- Problem-solving skills to address medication-related issues effectively.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks. Tools Required:
- Pharmacy management software for medication dispensing and inventory management.
- Electronic health record (EHR) systems for maintaining patient records and medication profiles.
- Drug reference databases and clinical decision support tools for informed medication management.
- Standard office software for documentation and reporting purposes.
