 IT Infra Support Engineer with Monitoring

Job Description

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • The four core tasks of the EOC in brief:
  • Ongoing monitoring
  • Troubleshooting
  • Proactive task processing
  • Communication
  • Support and monitoring of the applications and services of our specialist departments
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting of jobs and production plans in Job Control
  • Monitoring of security systems (video surveillance, access control)
  • Monitoring and support in resolving faults in infrastructure systems, e.g., servers, networks, and also in building facilities such as power supply and air conditioning in data centers
  • Troubleshooting, escalation, and issue tracking
  • Automation of processes for troubleshooting or maintenance and servicing of systems within the EOC's area of responsibility.
  • Control of IT production across all system platforms and environments used in the data center
  • Collaboration with internationally distributed teams and the technically active Technology Lead for the EOC, e.g., for coordination, further development, and optimization of EOC responsibilities
  • Operation and use of the service management systems in place
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation

Key Requirements:

  • Completed relevant vocational training, e.g., IT specialist in system integration, or comparable knowledge and experience acquired through practice
  • Relevant professional experience in operations/control centers for Windows, Unix/Linux, network, storage systems, and other IT environments
  • Knowledge of job scheduling; experience with Automic/UC4 is an advantage
  • Experience in monitoring for resource and utilization management, preferably with CheckMK or Datadog
  • In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure (TCP/IP, VLAN)
  • Ideally, knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Linux, UNIX, as well as database systems, internet services, and network structures
  • Practical experience using scripting languages to automate processes on Windows and/or Linux systems
  • Experience in IT support/service management
  • Independent working style, strong communication and teamwork skills, a high sense of responsibility, and the ability to remain calm, flexible, and committed in crisis situations
  • Good to very good written and spoken English skills
  • Willingness to work in a 3-shift system (the EOC is staffed 24/7)
