Job Description
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- The four core tasks of the EOC in brief:
- Ongoing monitoring
- Troubleshooting
- Proactive task processing
- Communication
- Support and monitoring of the applications and services of our specialist departments
- Monitoring and troubleshooting of jobs and production plans in Job Control
- Monitoring of security systems (video surveillance, access control)
- Monitoring and support in resolving faults in infrastructure systems, e.g., servers, networks, and also in building facilities such as power supply and air conditioning in data centers
- Troubleshooting, escalation, and issue tracking
- Automation of processes for troubleshooting or maintenance and servicing of systems within the EOC's area of responsibility.
- Control of IT production across all system platforms and environments used in the data center
- Collaboration with internationally distributed teams and the technically active Technology Lead for the EOC, e.g., for coordination, further development, and optimization of EOC responsibilities
- Operation and use of the service management systems in place
- Creation and maintenance of documentation
Key Requirements:
- Completed relevant vocational training, e.g., IT specialist in system integration, or comparable knowledge and experience acquired through practice
- Relevant professional experience in operations/control centers for Windows, Unix/Linux, network, storage systems, and other IT environments
- Knowledge of job scheduling; experience with Automic/UC4 is an advantage
- Experience in monitoring for resource and utilization management, preferably with CheckMK or Datadog
- In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure (TCP/IP, VLAN)
- Ideally, knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Linux, UNIX, as well as database systems, internet services, and network structures
- Practical experience using scripting languages to automate processes on Windows and/or Linux systems
- Experience in IT support/service management
- Independent working style, strong communication and teamwork skills, a high sense of responsibility, and the ability to remain calm, flexible, and committed in crisis situations
- Good to very good written and spoken English skills
- Willingness to work in a 3-shift system (the EOC is staffed 24/7)
