Job Description

Veritas Netbackup & Data Domain/Flex Administration
Total Exp should be min 8-14 Years
Relevant Exp should be 8-12 Years
  • Expertise in setup and configuring Netbackup server/client and tape libraries
  • Troubleshoot and resolve missed and failed Netbackup backups
  • Modify and optimize backup schedules
  • Improve automation and productivity of backups through scripting enhancements
  • Interface with vendors for escalation of issues
  • Experience in performing catalog recovery in case of a disaster
  • Experience with Advance backup functions like configuring Oracle, SQL, SAP backup, NDMP backups, VMware VADP backup, SQL backup, exchange backup etc
  • Processing of tapes for offsite storage
  • Review & Update Netbackup policies and procedures to help on daily Netbackup activity and reporting to proactively avoid issues
  • In-Depth Hands on experience in managing, configuring, and troubleshooting of IBM VTLs TS7650G, HPE MSL tape libraries & Quantum tape libraries, StorageTek SL tape libraries
  • Good skills in performance optimization.
  • Solving complicated Hardware cases and Liaising with Hardware Vendor/Symantec support
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills and identify the severity of the issue, Ability to Resolve issues quickly to account/customer satisfaction and Prepare RCA
  • Expertise in Data Domain , Veritas flex with VERITAS Netbackup / Any other Enterprise Level Backup Application
  • Knowledge of DD BOOST
  • Build, maintain, patching, troubleshooting, compliance, decommission, and disposal of Data Domain & Flex appliance related hardware.
  • Strong knowledge on De-duplication & Replication & Storage Life Cycle Policies Concepts
  • Knowledge on Migration to NetBackup from multiple other backup technologies
  • Knowledge on design the Netbackup solutions
  • Provide root cause analysis and log evaluation after outages
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of Capacity Planning & Backup Provisioning
  • System administration experience on Windows, HPUX or Sun Solaris, and knowledge on VMware would be an added value
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes like Incident management, Problem Management and Change Management processes.
  • Certification in Data Domain technology is an added advantage.
  • Provide operational support on a 24x7 rotation basis.
  • Hands on Experience on other backup technologies like Avamar, Networker would be added advantage
  • Knowledge of Ticketing Tool such as Remedy, USD, SNOW , etc

  • Strong ability to work under pressure / Flexible and self-motivated.
  • Scripting knowledge would be added benefit
  • Exposure to Project work is desirable
  • Bachelor s or Equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field
