- Perform heavy data validation and ETL processes testing
- Prepare and executes effective test cases/scenarios using analytical methods
- Document defects and escalates to the appropriate team for issue resolution
- Develop comprehensive test plans from requirements/specifications for complex items with input from developers and business process experts
- Work with Project Managers to incorporate testing into project schedules
- Develop the testing strategy and manage the testing effort. Evaluate data changes and anomalies against previous trends; and provide guidance to resolve variances
- Establish validation benchmarks and automated processes for data quality improvements for the weekly/monthly validations and data quality checks to ensure data is accurate for analytics. Develop trending reports and data quality metrics for reporting
- Capture test requirements prior to development / implementation
- Interface with business/global stakeholders to ensure thorough end to end testing
- Maintain the test matrix for test coverage both through manual tests and automated tests
- Manage the QA release cycle by developing and maintaining automated tests
- Coordinate nightly builds and bi-weekly regression and performance tests. Should be familiar with using TFS / Visual Studio application and common testing applications to perform exploratory tests with the ability to collect diagnostics and performance information
- Bachelor's Degree required Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting QA for large-scale Business Intelligence projects
- Core competencies on the following -
- Ability to create and execute strategies and test cases for applications that use ETL components
- Advanced level of expertise in database testing with excellent PL SQL skills and various queries
- Strong ETL knowledge on the database level
- Understanding of ELT and ETL patterns and when to use each. Understanding of data models and transforming data into the models
- Strong skills related to interpreting and understanding of data models and ER diagrams
- Hands on experience in relational databases and sound knowledge in database architecture
- Big Data (Hadoop eco system) testing experience
- Experience in testing Big Data systems with Hive and Hbase
- Ability to data mining and detailed data analysis on various data warehousing systems
- Sound judgment and decision-making, and the appropriate sense of urgency and is a self-starter
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Self-Motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work with unstructured datasets
- Passion around validating data lineage to enhance insights for organizations
