What does this role holder do? (Accountabilities)
Typically interacts with CEO-3 level, and at times CEO-2 level
May be nominated as Accountable Auditor (issuing the report in own name) for audits of Low Risk or Medium-Low Risk audit universe entities.
Has people management responsibility for a team of 5-7 between Graduate and Lower Manager Grade. Helps recruit and manage talent and underperformance
Responsible for undertaking tasks delegated to them by Accountable Auditors to perform audit work on complex and large size audits (e.g. audits of High or Medium-High Risk related audit universe entities; Enhanced Scrutiny Engagements)
Provides quarterly insights to the Group Audit Committee and Executive Management.
Oversees a portfolio of engagements at any one point in time ensuring that engagements are delivered to budget and on time.
Oversees that engagement teams comply with methodology and appropriately use the tools available.
Monitors business performance to check that outstanding issues are effectively monitored and resolved in a reasonable timeframe.
Comply with Our Code, all Group policies, the Three Lines of Defence principles, the Group Recovery Plan, 'Our Governance' (the Group governance and controls document) and deliver against all relevant statutory, regulatory, supervisory and legal obligations, escalating concerns where appropriate
Manage day-to-day activities within risk appetite
Display risk practices and behaviours consistent with a risk culture where risk is simply part of the way we work and think
Third line of defence (3LOD) Risk Management
This job has Third line of defence (3LOD) accountabilities as set out in the Three Lines of Defence principles to act on behalf of the Board and the Executive to provide independent assurance over the key risks to the organisation, which includes an assessment of material elements of the control framework.
What are the skills, knowledge and experience needed to do the role?
Experienced internal audit manager with strong understanding of risks and controls relating to Cyber Security, IT infrastructure and Cloud, and key IT risks for front to back processes supporting the Capital Markets business.
Prior experience working in any of the three lines of defence in an investment bank, either implementing or independent reviewing and challenging IT application or infrastructure controls.
Understanding of the global regulatory landscape and upcoming emerging risks and innovations related to technology and digitisation in investment banking (e.g. Cloud and AI).
Prior experience with using audit tools/techniques including data analytics and agile auditing
Basic programming skills beneficial, with the ability to read, understand and challenge automated business controls embedded within software source code.
Proven competence to deliver projects on time and to budget.
Professional qualification (CISA and CISSP) or equivalent work experience.
