Job Description:
As a Technical Documentation Writer, you will:
Develop, edit, and update printed and online user guides, Standard Operating Procedures, Quick Start Guides, release documentation, informational materials, presentations etc. for a Software Product.
Monitor documentation analytics and get usability feedback from customers. Modify documentation style or format according to research, customer usage, and feedback.
Assist in the development of style and usage standards and work with technical staff to make products easier to use.
Deliver on-site training and online sessions, including classroom instruction, one-on-one coaching, practice sessions, product demonstrations, and webinars.
Gathers requirements and content; and coordinates resources needed to produce technical documentation.
Understands and successfully uses content development tools.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Strong writing and communication skills
Ability to understand technical concepts, product functionality and business process
Experience in documenting and writing about technical software products
Knowledge of technical editing conventions for software product documentation.
Background/experience dealing with end users and customers in conjunction with content development.
Skills and experience working with documentation, content management and markup tools including Microsoft Word, Visio, Adobe Acrobat and help authoring.
Skilled in identifying content problems and communicating fixes; providing feedback, guidance, and advice to others.
Skilled at managing multiple, non-related projects and changing deadlines. Well-developed skills in project management.
Strong interpersonal communication skills. Able to address problems in a direct yet diplomatic manner.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong personal and professional initiative; willing to take on new challenges; takes initiative to learn new skills; keeps current in industry trends.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient with Adobe FrameMaker / Read the docs / Any other documentation tool
Proficient with Microscoft Office.
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to create videos and manuals on camtasia / captivate / similar tools is a plus
